Slide Board
From Livid Wiki
The Slide board designed to have a single slide potentiometer and a backlight LED circuit. The LED is designed for ambient backlighting and a separate 12v power supply, however, there is no reason you couldn't use a talkback LED as provided by the Brain, similar to the LED on the Push boards. Each board is 1" X 4" and comes in a 1 board by 4 board grid that is separated by v-score lines. The boards can break apart into single boards, so sliders can be arranged in any physical configuration desired. When attached to other Slide boards, slide potentiometers will have 1" spacing. Boards are designed with 0.1" spacing so they will work with standard 0.1" pin headers, terminal blocks, and perf. boards. The board can also be plugged directly into a standard 0.1" breadboard. Slide boards work with a number of 60mm travel slide potentiometers as well as our custom faders.
A. Connections
- Slide boards have five connections labeled JP1,JP2,JP3,POS,NEG. There are matching connections on all four sides and they are all connected together. The POS (positive) and NEG (negative) connection's are for the three string backlight LED circuit. When used with other Turn and Slide boards, POS and NEG connections are designed to be daisy chained together with wire jumpers. JP1 and JP2 are common connections for the potentiometer. When used with other Turn or Slide boards, up to 8 boards can be daisy chained together as long as one pair of JP1 and JP2 are connected with a wire to the corresponding analog section of the Breakout Board (each pin header on the Brain can take up to 8 analog controls). JP3 is the wiper signal of the potentiometer. Each Turn JP3 pin needs a dedicated wire connected to the JP3 pin of each CC line of the Breakout Board.
B. Potentiometer Connections
- These connection are for a 60mm dual or single rail board mount potentiometer. Slide work with a standard 60mm travel board mount potentiometer. Here are a few confirmed faders. Bourns Dual Rail Slide Pot
C. Backlight LEDs
- The onboard backlight LED circuit features six LEDs that can either be 3mm thru hole or 0603 surface mount. These connections correspond to the positive and negative (POS,NEG) solder holes on all four side connections. One set of POS and NEG will need to be wired to a set of connections on the Indicator LED section of the Breakout board.
D. Resistor
- This is for either a standard thru hole resistor or 1206 surface mount resistor. The resistor is used to set the voltage for the LEDs used. You can use a resistor calculator to determine the resistor value needed such as: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz.
E. Capacitor
- The Slide board features an onboard place for either a thru hole or 0805 surface mount capacitor. We suggest using a .01uf capacitor for noise reduction though you may find one is not needed.
Backlight Circuit
The backlight circuit is a string of LED's with a resistor to control voltage. The backlight LEDs are intended to be constant on or off not controlled by the builder brain and require a 12 volt power source. The Brain is not required at all to use this circuit.
