Overview

Preset Selector screenshot

The Preset Selector is a simple application designed to send control definitions from the presets created in the Livid Editor to the Livid Controller. For example, if you have created several presets in the Ohm64Editor that define different MIDI settings for the button, knobs, and sliders for the Ohm64, the Preset Selector will find all those files on your computer and provide an interface to immediately send the settings to reprogram the Ohm64. Although the Livid Control Editor applications can already do this, many users will appreciate the simplicity and focus of the Preset Selector. The above screenshot shows the application with MIDI Control enabled. When MIDI Control is disabled (the default behavior), the interface controls to the right of the button are hidden.

Starting the Application

When the Preset Selector is launched, it will search for Livid Controllers connected to your USB port, and select it. If you have multiple Livid Controllers, then you can manually select the Controller name and port.

The Preset Selector will also find the appropriate presets folder on your computer, and make the presets available in the Preset Menu.

Presets menu

You can use your mouse to select a preset from the menu, or use the decrement (<) and increment (>) keys to advance through the menu.

Previous and Next buttons for preset menu

When a preset is selected, the data is immediately sent to the controller, and its settings are re-programmed. These settings, however, are not saved to the controller, so when you unplug and plug in the controller again, it will restore with its saved settings.

MIDI Control

Use the MIDI Control button to enable MIDI messages as controls for the preset selection.

Use the port menu to select a source for the MIDI messages that will select presets. You can use messages from your Livid Controller, of course, but be sure all your presets has those buttons assigned to the same control value! You can also send messages from a different controller or another application.

Turn on "learn" to enable MIDI learn. This makes it very easy to attach MIDI messages to the decrement and increment buttons, as well as the preset menu itself. Of course, turn this button off when you are finished!

With the program change menu, you can select a source channel for program changes that will directly select a preset.

Preferences

When the application is closed, the current values for your MIDI control will be stored so they are restored the next time you start the application. These include the learned MIDI control values, the state of MIDI control enable, the MIDI control port, and the program change channel.
