Overview
The Guitar Wing editor allows you to have full control over the MIDI input and output settings.
Here are a few examples of what you can do with the editor:
- Save and recall preset settings files.
- Restore the Wing to default settings.
- Change the output message type for each control.
- Set LED On and Off colors.
- Change MIDI channel.
- And much more....
The editor is separated into three sections, the Global Settings, Basic Settings, and Advanced Settings. Most users find everything they need in the Basic settings section, however, some users may use the Advanced section for more detailed mappings or to integrate with specific hardware and software.
With firmware versions 1.10 and higher, you may also use this software when connected directly to OS X Yosemite without a USB Receiver.
The editor also provides a connect menu at the bottom of the screen provide easy management of the Connection between your Guitar Wing and the USB Receiver.

System Requirements
To use Guitar Wing Editor v1.09 your Wing must use firmware version 1.34 or higher.
To use Guitar Wing Editor on OS X Yosemite or iOS 8+ without the USB Receiver, your wing must be updated to firmware version 1.10 or higher.
To update the firmware on your Wing visit the Guitar Wing Firmware Update page.
Global Settings
- Save - Save the current settings on the Guitar Wing.
- Factory Reset - Erase saved settings, load and save default settings.
- Advanced - Toggle the editor to advanced mode for more detailed mappings.
- Presets
- load from file - Load saved settings from preset file.
- save to file - Save current settings to preset file.
- revert to last save - Revert back to the last saved settings.
- load defaults - Load the default settings without saving.
- reset advanced settings - Reset the advanced settings back to defaults.
Basic Settings
Control Mapping
- message - Sets the output message type.
- note - Sends a channel number, Note number, and Note velocity, like a MIDI keyboard.
- cc - Control Change, sends a channel number, CC number, and CC value.
- advanced - Sends output based on settings in the "advanced" tab.
- number - Sets the Note or CC number.
- output - Sets the output to momentary or toggle mode.
- channel - Sets the MIDI channel number.
- motion - Sets the control to turn the Motion Control on and off.
- on color - Sets the on color for the LED. The on color is the color that the LED will light when the button is released (off).
- off color - Sets the off color for the LED. This off color is the color that the LED will light when the button is pressed (on).
Motion Control
Click the Motion Control icon to reveal the settings options.
- message - Sets the output message type.
- note - Sends a channel number, Note number, and Note velocity, like a MIDI keyboard.
- cc - Control Change, sends a channel number, CC number, and CC value.
- bend - Sends Pitchbend messages.
- touch - Sends Aftertouch messages.
- none - Turns off Motion Control output.
- number (x) - Sets the Note/CC/Touch number, or sets Bend channel.
- number (y) - Sets the Note/CC/Touch number, or sets Bend channel.
- number (z) - Sets the Note/CC/Touch number, or sets Bend channel.
- channel - Sets the channel number for Note/CC/Touch output.
Advanced Settings
Clicking the advanced button in the global settings section reveals even more MIDI settings options. The extra advanced options are different for each control type.
FSR pads and touch faders allow you to apply different settings to the Key or Control output of the same pad or fader. You can access the Key or Control settings by clicking the tabs in the Control Mapping section. For instance, the Key settings for an FSR pad can output a Note message when you touch the pad, then the Control settings can output Aftertouch or CC messages as you vary the pressure.
The other advance features function like so:
- flip - inverts the direction of a control.
- sensitivity - sets the sensitivity for an FSR pad.
- on value - set the "on" value to be sent when a control is press.
- motion on - enable or disable the motion control per axis.
- leds - set if the LED will respond to on-board touches (local control), software messages, or both.
- on-board - the LED will react when the control is touched, regardless of software.
- software - the LED will respond to incoming MIDI messages from software.

Midi Monitor
In versions 1.04 and higher of Guitar Wing Editor, the Guitar Wing Editor hides a Midi Monitor, for easy viewing of configuration changes.
To view the Midi Monitor:
- right-click anywhere in the Guitar Wing Editor Window
- select 'Midi Monitor' in the popup window.
To hide the Midi Monitor:
- right-click anywhere in the Guitar Wing Editor Window
- select 'Midi Monitor' in the popup window.
